Keivz' Top Ten Intros

Intros are rated in terms of art, animation, music, replay value, how well it captures its show's essence, and how good it makes me feel :-p Only the top 5 get descriptions.

Utena

1. Shoujo Kakumei Utena - Masami Okui - "Rinbu Revolution" - 1 min 30 sec

Far and away my absolute favorite intro. Its uniqueness and flair are a perfect fit for the show. Animation flows like wine and matches every musical note perfectly. Ultimately, it's the elegant style and hypnotic melody that makes me want to watch this over and over again.

Record of Lodoss War TV

2. Record of Lodoss War : Chronicles of a Heroic Knight - Sakamoto Maaya - "Kiseki no Umi (Sea of Miracles)" - 1 min 46 sec

An absolutely gorgeous and breathtaking intro that's nearly unmatched in attention to detail and fluidity of animation. The onscreen action is extremely well matched to the majestic music. I'm no fan of the actual show, and I dare say the intro is more entertaining.

Slam Dunk

3. Slam Dunk - BAAD - "Kimi ga Sukida to Sakebitai (I want to shout I love you)" - 1 min 43 sec

The series of dunks in the first 25 seconds just screams cool, and each dunk is matched to a musical beat greatly adding to its impact. The rest of the intro deals mostly with Sakuragi and Haruko and matches the theme of the song well. More so than anything, the intro creates a mood that fits well with the series.

Hajime no Ippo

4. Hajime no Ippo - Shocking Lemon - "Under Star" - 1 min 30 sec

Had I liked boxing more than basketball, this intro would be in the #3 spot. It's very fun to watch and matches the show fairly well. And who could forget the classic line: "I want feeling!"

One Piece

5. One Piece - Hiroshi Kishidani - "We Are!" - 1 min 49 sec

Like the series, it took me awhile to warm up to this intro. But once you get to know the characters, including their ship Going Merry, every scene has significantly more meaning and is ultimately more fun. The song was obviously made for the series and really gets me in the mood for some swashbuckling excitement.

Escaflowne

6. Vision of Escaflowne - Sakamoto Maaya - "No Need For Promises" - 1 min 30 sec

Karekano

7. His and Her Circumstances - Fukuda Mai - "Tenshi no Yubikiri" - 1 min 30 sec

Hajime no Ippo

8. Hajime no Ippo - Shocking Lemon - "Inner Light" - 1 min 21 sec

Hana Yori Dango

9. Hana Yori Dango - Kikuta Tomohiko - "Ordinary Sunday" - 1 min 30 sec

Basara

10. Legend of Basara - Rouage - "Endless Loop" - 1 min 31 sec
