First and foremost I'm
a screenwriter, as yet unproduced. My dubious introduction to anime was TNT's
ruthlessly butchered Vampire Hunter D, which I enjoyed at the time because I didn't
know any better. From that point onward I grabbed every miserable Carl Macek dub
I could find, until I stumbled upon Record of Lodoss War and discovered the joy
of both quality character-oriented anime and subtitled Japanese dialogue. I prefer
anime that's either dead serious or off-the-wall insane; I don't enjoy much that
falls in between, but there are a few exceptions to that rule. A strong plot and
characters are needed, or at least enough humor, atmosphere, fan service and/or
general insanity to compensate for the lack of them. I'm also a regular contributor
to the comedy site http://www.genki-web.net.
