Fubuki Sakuragasaki is your average shy and clumsy girl, but gifted with the Gaming Spirit! She aims to win the World Gaming Championships and must defeat various nutty opponents using her gaming skills and the powers of her Passion Panties. Along the way she makes many friends, including the mysterious Mr. Mystery. Making Fubuki's dream difficult is the Gulasic Group, whose real goal isn't clear yet.
Lots of classic arcade games are shown, most notably Sega's old library of games such as Phantasy Zone, Outrun, Columns, Virtua Fighter, etc. There are other references such as the Gulasic minions looking like Galaga/Galaxian enemies, and Chizuru's Dig Dug goggles. Unfortunately the gaming matches don't focus on actual gameplay but rather on the contestants performing silly exaggerated moves. Fubuki's special move has her floating in the air upside down, electricity crackling around her, and her panties showing.
Though it has plenty of retro gaming nostalgia, Arcade Gamer Fubuki's other offerings are weak. The humor isn't very inspiring, but some amusing characters such as Chizuru and Honey (the blonde American girl with huge boobies who's great at DDR) put a smile on my face. Things do get rather tedious when Fubuki starts angsting about whether Mr. Mystery is her father or not, and her unwillingness to compete with him in a gaming challenge. The story gets more absurd at the end when the Gulasic Group's motives are revealed and Fubuki is required to show she has enough passion for gaming to defeat the enemy.
