After the tragic events at the end of series 1, Joe once again
found himself aimlessly roaming the streets of Tokyo, trying to forget or overcome
his sorrows. He finally goes back to boxing after nearly 6 month of wanderlust
and hence he again begins his way as a professional boxer despite the obstacles.
What really make Ashita no Joe a superb series are not only the great boxing
matches, but also, and more importantly, the feelings of the boxers inside and
outside these matches. It is what beyond the matches that really matters, the
reasons behind the acts, the daily life of a boxer and the different perception
of boxing. The art style had a good facelift and is more solid here but since
this one is also old, don't expect something super-beautiful. I really enjoy this
series so much, especially knowing that there aren't that much boxing anime out
there.
