I guess I was expecting too much when I picked up Burn Up
W. I thought maybe it would be a fan-servicey show with a decent plot. But
frankly, the plot sucked, and the fanservice wasn't all that great. There were
many, many jokes that just weren't funny. However, the last two episodes got slightly
better, by introducing something resembling a story. Still, it wasn't worth my
money. I suppose next time I see something with a cheesy catch phrase like "On
the case and in your face" I should steer clear. |

Hmm.. Where to start. Burn Up W is pretty much about
one thing: fanservice. It's pretty hard to worry about things like story and character
development when the main female characters are either A) getting naked B) half-naked
C)in some type of body tight clothing that shows off their massive breasts. So
what's the show about? Girls with massive breasts and guns. Though I do remember
it trying to slip some form of plot in there that was incomplete.. Yep, breasts
and guns. That's what it's about. Unless you're a fanservice junky like myself,
you best stay far away from this title. |

Burn Up W is one of those shows that's so forgettable
that I had to rewatch it just to remember what it was about. There isn't enough
substance to make it a serious show, and not enough outrageousness to make it
an "insanity" show. This is a girls-with-guns title, so expect lots
of skimpy uniforms and kinetic chests. There is a weak plot that connects the
episodes, but it's not well wrapped up in the end. But hey, I don't think anyone
is expecting a great plot when they buy this type of show. |

The horror.... the fanservice that's somewhat great... cannot
save this show. Even before watching it and not expecting much I was disappointed.
There was very few laughs to be had, a fair amount of fanservice, and a plot that
was as strong as a toothpick. Nothing stands out music wise or art style, except
that it seems (IMHO) a transition from the old 80's style artwork to a more modern
AIC design. The series was short... hopefully with a continuation the series will
become more than what my opinions were left with after watching these OVA episodes. |
