This movie, unlike the first one, is made to conclude the CCS series. So if you have not watched the previous seasons of CCS, it is best to be patient and finish them before you claim your finale. With that said, this movie does a really good job ending one of the longer anime series. The movie will contain some spoilers if you haven't finished the series so it is best to keep that in mind. Still insist on watching it? Read on.

The movie starts off with Sakura reviewing her own action clip she made with Tomoyo and the Clow Cards (it is basically a fake clip since she made her own monsters with 'create'), which became Sakura Cards now that all 52 got captured. News get off that Li is coming back from Hong Kong to visit. Li has already confessed to Sakura before the movie and now we are finally going to see how Sakura is going to respond. The movie did not attempt to cover up Li and Sakura's feelings for each other and thus making the movie a story of love. But while Sakura is getting nervous over how she should respond, her Sakura Cards began to disappear one by one. We are introduced to the final card, a card that can match the previous 52 - a card that can capture cards. It seems that by making the 52 Clow Cards into Sakura Cards, the balance is upset between the positive force (clow cards) and the negative force (the last card). In order to restore the balance, the mysterious card began to return the Sakura Cards back into Clow Cards and relieving them from Sakura's control. Another way to restore the balance is for Sakura to give up her most precious feeling (gee I wonder what that is) and make the last card hers. But Sakura wasn't about to let either happen - she has something else in mind. The only part I don't like is that the final battle is too short and simple. The first 60 minutes of the movie helped build up to what is really the last battle of CCS but that last battle did not impress me that much.

With the regular CCS animation and a few added soundtrack, this movie fits in nicely with the regular CCS series. It all end here folks - a daring conclusion and a satisfying finish. If you had the chance to watch all 70 episodes of CCS, be sure not to miss the second movie.

Why I have it: I have the previous 71 geez.
High: Concludes the story with no missing holes. Fair soundtrack.
Low: No kissing/hugging scenes (darnit!). Final battle was lame.
Last word: Intended for audiences who have watched the CCS series.

More Cardcaptor Sakura you say? Can we ever really have enough? The second movie gives us more of the same with the added bonus of some extra romantic tension between Li and Sakura. The story while interesting, is underplayed by the romantic angle which makes for a sorta whiz bang ending that left me a bit bewildered as too what had really happened. The whole movie felt rushed, as if CLAMP had just thrown this one together for the fans on a whim. Nonetheless it's a nice entry into the Cardcaptor Sakura saga, though I wish they had delved a bit deeper into the backstory.

The second Card Captor Sakura movie feels like an overlong episode. It takes 40 minutes before the first encounter with the main villain. In that time we see Sakura and the gang basically doing nothing except looking cool and just being themselves. In that time Sakura tries to tell Shaoran her feelings about him, but something always comes between them before she can tell him. There's also nothing exceptional about the villain, and the way things get resolved is rather predictable. It's cute to see Sakura, Tomoyo, Kero-chan, but like candy it's all very sweet but not very filling. The Kero-chan omake is quite amusing though.

Enchanted Cards is a wonderful character driven story centering around Sakura and her friends. Like the TV series, it's something you can watch, relax, and just enjoy. The story is slow paced and concentrates on character relationships. If you've only seen a few episodes of the TV series you may want to wait on this one, as it contains many characteristics that are not present in the early episodes and are major spoilers. The animation is a mixed bag, it's like there's more frames of animation in the introduction than in the rest of the movie combined, but the level of detail in each individual frame is astonishing. Included with the movie is the Kero-chan omake, which is a very humorous short film about Kero; don't stop watching after the credits roll or you'll miss it.
