Welcome to the world of doujinshi. Comic Party is yet another anime based on a bishoujo game. Like it's predecessor To Heart, the series removes the hentai themes and comes up with a 13-episode anime that centers on a guy and his quest to be a doujinshi artist. Doujinshi is basically fan comics, where you do your own comics, be it original or based on a popular manga or anime series. Even though I don't know too much about this fandom, the anime presents a basic introduction of the subject matter in hand. As expected from a bishoujo title, there are lots of girls with extremely varying attitudes and traits. But unlike most bishoujo game to anime conversions, Comic Party doesn't focus on the girls alone. There is actually a story about the male doujinshi artist and his exploits. And this is not harem either, so those looking for romantic comedies and stuff like that won't find it here, although a love triangle (of sorts) is actually established near the end.

The anime sports decent art and animation. It also has a soundtrack just right enough for the scenes. Technically this is a fairly average anime, although I was quite disappointed considering the animation studio (Aquaplus) also did To Heart, which is more visually appealing in my opinion. But the story makes it appealing nonetheless. While To Heart presented the episodic approach, focusing on a girl per episode, Comic Party more or less did the same, but included a story continuity. The girls are quite interesting, even one of them doesn't like doujinshi and otakudom the male lead has. This adds flavor to the story and makes it more dynamic and funny. Correctly named as Comic Party, this is a party that you should attend to, so watch this anime if you can.

4. The Boss

The story evolves around Kazuki Sendo who is at his third grade of high-school. Having already cleared the college entrance permission, Kazuki acts very relaxed most of the time. However one day Taishi, Kazuki´s friend takes him to a Doujinshi sales stand and after that Kazuki awakens to the world of Doujinshi, with much help from Taishi. Both serious and funny at times this is an excellent anime title if you want to know more about the world of Manga.

Comic Party is the story about doujinshi, or fan comics. This 13 episode series is based on a Dreamcast game of the same title. Comic Party starts out strong with some hilarious stuff, but becomes rather thin in the middle, and the ending is somewhat disappointing. This is probably because it's based off a video game. However, the series does have its great moments, most of them a result of Taishi screaming something in horrible English. I recommend seeing at least an episode or two.

Similar to it's predecessor To Heart, Comic Party is based on what was originally a Hentai game for the PC. Of course, like To Heart, it's animated form has nothing offensive at all in it. Our story revolves around Kazuki, a promising young artist who gets sucked into the world of Doujinshi (Japanese fan made comics) much to the dismay of his would be girl friend Mizuki. The 13 episode series starts out strong with majority of time spent delving into the Anime / Manga / Cosplay / Doujinshi world in several different ways. Sadly around midway the series dragged a bit for me, but overall I was pleased with the outcome. Not as strong as To Heart, but an interesting title for those who like a bit of comedy as well interest in the Japanese Manga / Doujinshi culture.

1. Tempy

Kazuki strives to become a doujinshi (fan comic) artist. He goes through much of the struggles one encounters while practicing his hobby, like peer acceptation of his hobby (or lack of it), trying to balance it with his studies, etcetera. However, many of the conflicts are rather simplistically portrayed. Comic Party isn't supposed to be a very dramatic show anyway, and the art designs are more suitable for a comedy series. Yet Comic Party isn't laugh-out-loud funny either. It has its amusing parts, but overall it's just way too average.
