There is a crisis in the city of Akihabara, and the only chance
to save it is to assemble 5 young girls to fuse with their Pata-Pi to go to the
Prime Mobile and destroy Crane's computer which is acting out the images of Crane's
dreams. Huh? What? Yeah, don't ask me. I can only hope that having watched the
TV series would have made this movie more understandable. Aside from that, it
looks really good (Production I.G. helps) and is very kawaii (almost to an extreme).
The Pata-pi are little animal / monster / robot things that each girl has, and
are just about the cutest things you'll ever see. The girls are very rambunctious,
which is fun, and there is a young lesbian who likes flat chested girls. If I'm
making no sense, then I've described the movie perfectly! Fun and entertaining,
but at the same time very hyper and weird. |

Never before has a movie about nothing been so fun to watch.
Don't worry about the plot; there is none. Basically a bunch of girls call each
other, do some silly things, go shopping at the mall, do some more silly things,
and when five minutes are left, power suits appear and there's a big fight up
in space. There are also these ultra-cute little ... things ... that resemble
a Jell-O mold with big eyes and serve no useful purpose other than comic relief
(okay I know what the Patapi are for, but in this movie they're pointless). The
amount of visual humor in this movie is astonishing; there are often two or three
things going on at the same time in different parts of the screen, making it hard
to pay attention to the serious parts. It's rather short at about an hour long,
but very fun to watch. | |
