éX-Driver Nina & Rei Danger Zone

Taking place a few years before the events in the original éX-Driver OVA series, this stand-alone OVA episode features Nina and Rei as the primary drivers for the éX-Driver corporation. Though they only appeared briefly in the OVA series, they exuded an aura of coolness and maturity that they're totally lacking in their own episode, and they feel just like diluted versions of Lisa and Lorna. It doesn't help that the character designs are different and the overall artwork is noticeably inferior to the OVA series. Not only that, but we're tossed right into the action, and don't get to know much about what makes Nina and Rei tick. Add to that some shaky technology, plot unlikelihoods, and a very listless soundtrack, and you're better off watching something else.
