It's been fifty years since battling rivals brought the forces
of "Rave" and "Dark Bring" against each other causing "Overdrive"
an event that destroyed a tenth of the world. Haru Glory has discovered he is
to be the next "Rave Master" and sets out to find the shattered pieces
of Rave as well as his estranged father. Along the way he joins ELLIE, Musica,
and too many others to list here, most of whom are searching for among other things,
answers.
Groove Adventure Rave is an effective
action adventure title that also features elements of humour, romantic hygienist,
and violence (which is surprisingly hard to watch at times). It plays out like
much other Shonen titles; hero engages superior foe in battle, through unrivalled
strength of heart and perseverance hero emerges victorious all the more stronger,
and ready for the next impossible battle. I realize that there is a "seen
one seen them all" attitude towards this gene but Groove Adventure
knows (for the most part) when battles go on for to long , when not to take itself
too seriously, and when not to attempt humour, making it a worthwhile contribution
to this type of anime. It is obvious however that this is not meant to be a complete
retelling of the original manga as there are dozens of characters many of whom
are not fully developed, and although the more critical elements are finalized,
the story is not completed within this series. Despite the fact that Rave
is nothing revolutionary it is a solid Shonen title and an entertaining one at
that.
