Endless Waltz is both sequel and prequel to the TV series Gundam Wing. It tells the story of Mariemaia, who claims to be Treize's daughter. Alongside with vicious Dekim, she plans to conquer the world by kidnapping Relena and mass producing her mobile suits. All five bishounen Gundam Pilots, Heero, Duo, Trowa, Quatre, and Wufei (good to see them once again!), are on it to stop her vicious plans, except Wufei (a psycho). This OVA series also tells the story of young Gundam pilots how they got their Gundams and explains their past. Unlike the TV series, the animation and the storyline were smooth and dazzling to watch. Somehow it doesn't feel cheesy and ridiculous as TV series and the OVA series were serious all the way to the finale of Gundam Wing. The con of this OVA series was that it was trying to tell too many stories in 3 episodes. Somehow the story feels rushed that it raised some questions (I do, I don't know about other fans) such as what drives Wufei into an evil person, or why did Zechs decides to help defeat Mariemaia. What I really liked about this series is the mechanic designs. Gundams and Tallgeese III were gorgeous looking mobile suits I have ever seen, even though they are unrealistic and impossible to make in real life. Note that Gundams have been completely re-designed by mechanical designer Hajime Katoki (Wing Zero has a wing! So damn pretty!) Another disappointment of this series is that even though there are neat looking mobile suits in the series, there were not many battles shown in here unlike the movie version. Unlike the crappy, lame ending from TV series, the ending scenes finally wrap up the series completely, showing the main characters that they have finally found their peaceful lives besides fighting.

Endless Waltz tries to tie up the storyline that wasn't tied up in the TV series, but in actuality I'm sure it was made just to sell new versions of the Gundams. This movie/OVA is quite complete in it's story. I don't wish to give the storyline away, but it does seem to flow along with the TV series, both continuing it and going back before the TV series. It is interesting to see the original reason the Gundam pilots were sent to Earth. The DVD contains two versions, the movie version and the 3-part OVA version. The movie version contains some new animation that the OVA version does not have. The DVD is a must buy, but be sure to watch this after you watch the whole Gundam Wing series or you will be lost.
