6. Tyrenol

This probably wins the award for the most blatant use of maids. A show like this would never make it into the US unless they explain to the audience that many of the characters herein are at the right age and are purposely short. 12 plus 3 episodes, 15 minutes each (This show had been playing along Steel Angel Kurumi, another maid-outfit-fetish show by the way.), this show is basically a thinly-lined comedy. And comedy's what we need more of in the world.

So here we have Taro, having nowhere to go after his mom dies and heading toward his grandfather's address. What he ends up getting is an inheritance of a large mansion, its wealth, and its "ruthless service organization determined to comfort the world." This becomes way too much for our poor hero, and his allergy to women comes into play mainly forms around the triplets Ichigo, Ringo, and Sango. Only Mariel, the female lead and a motherly one at that, doesn't give him the rash that keeps on giving. Included in the mix is the mad maid scientist Ikuyo, head of security and "Motoko Aoyama fanclub" member Konoe, silent little Cynthia and her cruel alter-ego Grace, and even more cruel rival Ryuka.

This is not deep. It's not suppose to be deep. It's suppose to make you laugh. I recommend this show to anybody who likes shows that don't make sense and yet makes you laugh.

A man is surrounded by maids who will do his every bidding. Sounds like nothing but blatant fan service, right? Well, that’s exactly what it is. Oops, did I just spoil 15 episodes of mindless, pointless, plotless, tasteless drivel in two sentences? My my my, whatever was I thinking? If you want fanservice, go download some porn (Don’t tell me you can’t get any. If you can’t find free porn on the Internet, it’s time you learned how.) If you want something with plot, run FAR far away.

Maid in Hananaukyo is an anime about how Tairo inherited all his grandfather's wealth (as well as the maids) and what he did with it. Now, every time I see an animation where a guy suddenly inherited all this money and was surrounded by girls, jealousy kicks in and I often wondered why I don't have such a wonderful grandfather. The show is really weak in plot (err… more like no plot) and is not really all that funny. All the character except Maria are not worth liking and to this day I am still trying to figure out what exactly is the major conflict in this story. Essentially, this anime has a lame-ass plot with zero character development. This will be fine if this anime was categorized as hentai, but it is not. Avoid this title if you are not into bad animation, horrible plot, and lame character development.

This is THE blatant maid service anime, and for some reason it's surprisingly easy to watch. It isn't lowbrow, but it is very perverse, in a funny way, and it is an easy way to waste a few minutes, and that is how it gains it worth in my mind, it is that 20 minutes of your life which you don't notice, and the 20 minutes which you can barely recall, it is just a void of the conscious. The animation is quite interesting, with a lack of colouring in on the hair of what's-his-face that gets the mansion with the hundreds of maids who all want to give him service. It is something of every dirty minded males dream, lavish luxury, copious amounts of money to spend on whatever you like and hundreds of cute and sensual girls who are devoted entirely to your happiness. I believe the creators of this series, so as not to let it become a blatant hentai, gave what's-his-face a fitting problem, he has an allergy to girls. I'm quite impressed by this, he isn't all that reserved and all that innocent, however, he is allergic to them, well of course except for one, however one who acts more as a mother figure than anything else, so you get the feeling he has a mother complex, but well, to each his own I suppose. If you're a guy, you will be able to laugh at this and or envy the little git; if you're a girl, you'll just laugh.

Young Taro inherits the Hanaukyo estate along with a gazillion maids. It seems he'll be enjoying the easy life, but those maids are giving him a harder time than he bargained for. Hanaukyo Maid Tai is another in a long list of short (each episode is 15 minutes long) and ecchi shows appearing lately. Though this time the main male character is quite young; he's not a rabid dirty-minded pervert, though he isn't oblivious to all the girls surrounding him either. Unfortunately for Taro, whenever he touches or gets touched by a girl he gets ill and changes color. There's not much of a story in Hanaukyo, as each episode focuses on single events in the lives of the Hanaukyo inhabitants, or on individual characters. The show is surprisingly gentle at times featuring some nice feelgood moments. I'd be lying if I said I didn't enjoy the fanservice, though there are quite a few occasions where it really does feel a bit tacked on, especially when it involves Ichigo, Ringo and Sango, who are intent on "servicing" Taro-sama. I definitely like the art in the show though: very cute and featuring warm, bright colors. And the low-key music is quite pleasant as well.

Hanaukyo Maid-tai is another of my guilty pleasures. A fairly standard shounen fanservice title, our story focuses on a young boy named Taro who recently inherited a massive mansion, and several hundred cute maids to go with it. With no real back story taking place, the show falls apart a great deal, though it's cast of cute girls, fanservice, and heart warming moments make a good title for fans of the genre.
