When I was young, I was attracted to an anime (or cartoon as
we were calling it then) that tells the story of a young girl called Heidi. The
show is just too sweet to resist; Heidi, a young girl living in the green fields
of the Alps with her grandfather, a kind hearted man but can be a bit rough at
times. She grew up in the fields, bringing up animals and playing with them with
Peter, the shepherd boy. The story then involves Heidi going to town and there
she meets Clara, the wheelchair-bound blond girl who is slightly older than her.
The art of the show is simple, but very appealing. For its day it was very brilliant
and even now, it is very watchable and memorable too. The colors are light and
clear and the character designs are likable. It has been almost 15 years since
I watched this show, but I can still see it clearly through me eyes. Every time
I remember it, it sends me back to these days when anime were peaceful and cheerful
without bloods or violence. What is even more exciting for me is that work has
begun on a 2nd series... now, I will fly with joy.
