2. Avenant

The animation has been taken up a notch and the music is better - this follow up to the original TV series resumes the story of Curapica's revenge against the Ryodan. After the somewhat unsettling ending of the series, this OVA thankfully takes that story up to conclude it. All the old characters are back, and this OVA has a much faster pace than the series, not surprisingly since this is only 8 episodes. It's a very good and worthy sequel to the series, but it only continues Curapica's Story. If you liked Hunter X Hunter, you'll like this too.

1. Tetrin

Hunter X Hunter OVA episodes, follows up directly from the Hunter X Hunter TV series. Kurapica, who had finally seemed to have resolved all of his revenge issues, discovers that his enemies the Genei Ryodan- Phantom Brigade are still alive. This time around Kurapica is determined to eliminate them all, especially the leader of the Phantom Brigade- Kuroro Lucifer. With the help from Gon, Killua and Leorio, Kurapica is once again out for revenge, he is even willing to place his friends in danger, and it seems nothing can stop him this time round.

This OVA is pretty dark compared to the TV series. The main character focus is obviously Kurapica and his lust for revenge for the slaughter of his tribe. Although Hunter X Hunter is one of my favourite anime series, the OVA to me could have been better. However, the OVA does give more insight about the Phantom Brigade and what the relationship is like amongst the members and I must admit that after watching the OVA, I did not loathe them as much as I did initially. Kurapica finally does seem to come to terms with his hatred for the Phantom Brigade and his thirst for revenge, by realizing that what is most important to him at present are his friends. The ending to the OVA does leave a few things loose, but hopefully a movie will come out to tie up the loose ends!

Animation in the OVA is a bit better than the series. More attention is paid on finer details and the backgrounds have improved.

The Opening song 'Pale Ale' is fast paced and the Ending song 'Carry On' is pretty mellow and easy listening.

Hunter X Hunter OVA is recommended to those who would like to see more character develop and some background information of the Phantom Brigade. As I've said before the OVA does leave some questions unanswered but well worth the watch if you're a fan of Hunter X Hunter.
