Typical of GONZO, I Wish You Were Here is a four episode OVA displaying exceptional artwork partnered with a weak plot and uninteresting characters. Basically, a meteor, which contained some sort of alien virus which mutates humans into brainless zombie-like creatures, hit Earth. The virus spreads rapidly, but, of course, a special government faction exists to combat the threat. This special government group assembles a task force aided with nano-machine technology, which when injected into a person, develops a nearly impervious Guyver-looking armor. However, a new secret weapon is said to be in production, which would be a huge relief for the Guyver-like fighters because the survival rate on missions are very grim.
Never did the trail of events give me a feeling that anything worthwhile was about to happen. Furthermore, the conclusion was so rushed and simple that I felt that I could have done better. Also, I felt nothing for any of the characters, especially the main character.
As I stated before, the artwork is typical of GONZO productions, which is clean and bright and dabbled with nice computer graphics and effects. Besides that, there is not much going on with this anime.
