A healthy dose of fan service have been provided as we follow the doey-eyed Mimu Emilton through the most over-promoted idol tournament since American Idol met Survivor. Follow along as she goes through an unrelenting set of trials in order to become as famous as Yuri, the "most popular idol in the galaxy" (for some reason the audience finds out later). Along the way she meets Yuka the child movie star, Corvette the bunny waitress, Layla the rock idol, Extra the prom queen, Pal Pu the Chinese martial artist, and Shion the ninja idol.

Words like Dignity, Guts, Relax, Smile, Spirit, and Rhythm get bounced around along with boobs, panty shots, and other scantly clad female anatomy for the sake of entertainment. Other than that, it's a good series to watch. The main female characters seem to treat Mimu like a sister of an extended family. And the ideal of aliens having their ultimate "idol search and worshipping" is a total hoot to enjoy.

Big ups go to Media Blasters for successfully translating the fun of this series; right down to where Corvette answers the question with her own voice actress's name.

Mimu is a young girl who strives to be an Excellent Idol like Yuri. With the help of 6 other Excellent Idols they go through various trials to attain that status. Idol Project has very cute art, excellent animation, and tons of fanservice. Panties, revealing angles, jiggling boobies are all very drool-worthy (limited to Barbie-type nudity though), along with some energetic action bits, and much silliness. There were a quite a bunch of laugh-out-loud moments. These aspects cleverly mask what is essentially a very stupid story. It's not so bad in the first three episodes, but the 4th episode was a complete pain to get through as the story tried to reach a rushed but predictable conclusion. The show is somewhat similar to Battle Athletes Victory but without the heart and emotion.

I was never quiet sure who this series was targeted at. The story of a young idol singer who wants to be a star is something that seemed more targeted to young girls (10 and under), but then I was struck by the massive amounts of male hormone induced fanservice that makes up the bulk of visuals. I was lost, and not amused. While not the worst drek on the planet, this one still sits pretty far at the bottom of the barrel. At least the animation was decent.

Idols are the most important people on Earth, and all the world's their stage. Mimu's dream is becoming one of these excellent idols, and she goes through a lot of hardships along with the excellent idols to become one of them. The gags, action, fanservice, and general silliness will keep you entertained and make you watch it again and again. Idol Project: the *other* anime where the world can be saved by a song.

This anime really highlights the frenzy for pop stars that the Japanese have. Mimu is an aspiring singer who gets a chance to audition to become one of Earth's Excellent Idols. The series describes what happens as she struggles to even make it to the audition in time, and how she fights for a chance to prove herself to the existing Idols. It's got one of my favorite soundtracks, and even better, it's got lots of fanservice.
