What a surprise this turned out to be. At first, I was expecting a fan-service filled fighting anime with a weak story, but Ikkitousen turned out to be a very enjoyable watch. Ikkitousen is about high schools fighting for power in the Kantou region of Japan. Each high school is filled with fighters carrying "Magatamas," which are small jewel-like stones that possess the soul of a warrior from sometime in Chinese history. The main character possesses the magatama of Sonsaku Hakufu, a volatile warrior, but she is ignorant of his history or of the significance of anyone else's magatama.
Basically, Ikkitousen is about fighters representing their high schools and battling people from other high schools. The storyline supposedly replicates the events of the historic Chinese warring times, but conflicts arise as each character wishes to change destiny.
This anime is rife with panty shots. Practically every single scene has a panty shot or near nude female. In fact, in every fight scene, there are always two outcomes: 1) Panties (usually white) are always in view because of a revealing high kick or another attack, and 2) every hit is strong enough to literally tear off someone's clothes. Ikkitousen can sometimes be interpreted as soft-core hentai.
A fun comedy/fighting anime to watch, but the whole story really begins to reveal near the end of this 13-episode series, so hopefully, the first few one-dimensional plot episodes will not deter you from watching the rest.
