2. Prep_Styles

This is for the people who enjoyed the "day to day" goings on in Kimagure Orange Road, the hygienist and outrageous situations, as much as or more then the overall story and character development. Simply put this OVA serves no other purpose but to grant fans 8 more episodes in the world of Orange Road that are for the most part independent of the overall story, a story that was the real draw to this series for me, and as a result this experience was mediocre for me personally.

This OVA introduces Kyosuke's cousin Akane who falls for Madoka in typical KOR fashion. The production values receive a welcome lift and I did enjoy the story involving idol singer Hayakawa however there was not enough here for me to give it anymore then an average score. If you enjoyed the original episodes with or without growth of the primary story or characters definitely give this one a go. If you're like me and needed more incentive to watch the original proceed with caution.

1. Cross Scars

The Kimagure Orange Road OAV takes place exactly after the main TV series finishes. Despite this you could in reality watch this at any stage during the main series as once again there no overriding plot throughout these 8 new episodes which would indicate it comes after the TV series.

Put simply the OAV is more of the same except, as expected with an OAV, the animation is of a higher standard. The lovable cast of the TV series are all here, with a couple of new faces thrown in such as Akane, Kyosuke's cousin, but it's still all the same sort of romantic hijinks we've seen before. But the new characters created all help to keep the OAV seem fresh and it's all as good as the TV series. As a result if you liked the TV series then you'll love this too and vice versa, although for any romantic conclusion you'll still have to wait for the first movie.
