Macross 7 TV, just as the Sound of Music is the
musical to the big screen, is the musical of japanese animation. Many years have
past since Macross The Super Dimensional Fortress, the time of Lynn Minmay
and Ichijo Hikaru. Max and Milia Jenius are married, though separated, with 7
half human/zentrandi among them. Milia is the mayor of City 7 while Max is the
commander of Battle 7, charged with the duty of defending it. A new enemy has
arised, the Protodevlin, who feed on the "karma" or soul energy of all
living organisms. To the great disappointment of the Earth Federation, Minmay's
ballads no longer have any effects of the enemy! By a chance incident, it was
discovered that the songs sung by the band Fire Bomber, led by a seemingly lout
Nekki Basara, seemed to have a resonance effect on the Protodevlin.
The
plot is simple and carried out similarly to the original Macross series.
What surprises me is that the storyline accompanied by the refreshing primarily
rock music style continues to cause a zoom in my heart. It's a happy show with
the humour reaching hilarious proportions in the final 3 filler episodes. The
singing voice of Nekki Basara is "excellentos" and Mylene Jenius provides
a perfect blend to it. Watch it and believe me you will be humming them unconsciously
in no time ! Fire Bomber! |
