U.C. 0083, four years after the Perfect One Year War (0079).
Two units of Gundam are being secretly transported to the Federation's base in
Australia, Planet Earth. One of these two is equipped with a nuclear warhead,
theoretically breaking the Antarctica's peace treaty the Federation signed with
Zeon. Not waiting for that to happen, a unit of the Delaz Fleet from the Zeon
side successfully stole the nuclear-ready Gundam. Ensign Kou jumped in a moment
of uproar to pilot the first unit to prevent the Gundam-jacking and became the
pilot of the Gundam eventually. MSD 0083 comes packed in with a decent
story, good action sequences and interesting characters. The art is one of the
best of its period, in my opinion, and the mech's design is top notch. Best of
all, the development of the characters and their feelings is something the show
focuses on. We see the troubled feelings and the moments of indecisions Kou goes
through as a result of merely being a trainee and having no combat experience
what so ever. All in all, MSD 0083 is a nice show and one of the best Gundam
shows out there. If you are to watch only one Gundam show, let this be
it.
