3. Marshal of Manga

I'm unsure of whether this show is for boys trying to figure out the female psyche, or for girls who want to know what girls should think about.

This anime leaves you thinking that all Japanese high school girls are either veterans in bed by the age of 16, or know so many sexually-oriented terms and ideas that we won't need sex therapists anymore (sheesh, I wonder what's on the national curriculum?).

If this anime made any pretensions about 'love for inner beauty', it gets half a star, but it doesn't. Momoiro Sisters unabashedly presents itself as a show strictly centered on bums, beauty, and breasts. Full stop.

When there's a lead character whose twenty-four hour nemesis is never losing her virginity, a corporate worker who falls in love with a guy for assessing the correct size of her breasts, and another character who wants to marry young so as not to imprint her husband's balding features in a photo… you know this is not a show that appeals to the intellect.

Momoiro Sisters makes no attempt at self-restraint, but its light-hearted view on sexual relationships might not be too brainless after all… perhaps it's saying that behind the sophisticated process of courting and mating, there's nothing but lust? Hmmm… Nope - just an outrageously ridiculous show that can't fail to pull some laughing chords, if only for the seriousness with which a shallow subject matter is treated.

Verdict: Short, sharp, and silly, this is an entertaining show for the open-minded. Borders on a four at times, but its narrow focus and restrictive audience appeal keeps it down.

2. Yogi

This series is very difficult to review. It’s sort of a "slice of life" anime detailing two sisters, one at work, and one in school, living together and their (attempts) at a love life. It’s rather slow at times, and it’s humor comes primarily from supplying each character with a steady supply of personality quirks (which isn’t really a bad thing). It requires some knowledge of Japanese culture, and the target audience is definitely women. This isn’t really a ground-breaking series but something fun to watch if you’re bored.

1. Tempy

Late-night anime series of 24 short episodes. Momoiro Sisters follows the lives of sisters Sakura and Momoko and their friends. Though there is no nudity, the subject matter is very mature in a naughty way. There's not much of a plot other than the female characters getting into relationships. While there are some amusing ecchi moments, most of the time the show falls flat on its face with extremely lame jokes. The production values are quite poor as well which doesn't help. Yume de Aetara and Iketeru Futari are similar late-night short ecchi series, but provide much more fun than Momoiro Sisters. Other than those few amusing moments and Ai Orikasa's voice (Ryoko from Tenchi Muyo) there's not much to enjoy here.
