It had promise... Then it ended... Pilot Candidate is
about Zero and his quest to pilot a Goddess (giant mecha). We follow Zero's quest
and friends and the story of him fitting in with the other pilots... The story
is lacking in content, easy to predict, and just plain boring. The animation is
a lot of CG.. its OK but nothing to write home about, same for the music which
usually sells me on a series. The series ends at episode 12 and not much is resolved
and some of the plot is left up in the air (rumours that money ran out during
production, take with a grain of salt), the series was continued on to drama CD's. |

Candidate for Goddess started off good enough. The characters
where interesting, the story showed promise, and the animations was pretty. Sadly
it fell apart quickly at the story level simply because as far as the plot went,
nothing really happened. After twelve episodes I felt like I had only digested
about 3 episodes worth of content, and was left with a feeling that my time had
been wasted. I probably would have enjoyed it a great deal if they had either
made more of it, or simply accelerated the story in the 12 episodes that they
had. |
