Incomplete, but still an interesting watch, this visually impressive OAV involves a group of teenagers who find that they share common dreams of their past lives as alien scientists. As memories return to them, so do old conflicts and desires that threaten their new lives on Earth. The engrossing story and several strong characters carry the series, but are unfortunately hampered by several flaws. The major weak point is the heroine, Alice, who is in the running for the most cloyingly oversensitive and exasperatingly passive character ever animated. Due to unforeseen circumstances, the show also cuts off after the sixth episode without resolving any of its major arcs. Certainly the main story involving Rin and Alice is not finished yet, and few of the emerging relationship troubles among the secondary characters get much time at all. Still, the setup is very well done, and the twists and revelations are great, even if they don't really get to play out all the way.

The biggest selling point of the OAV is the feature-quality animation and design. Motion is especially well captured, even when the characters are doing ordinary things. A haunting ending theme is the highlight of an otherwise mundane score. In regards to the writing, the episodes work better as a cohesive whole, but individual ones do stand out. The last episode, featuring only Shion's memories, is easily the best of them. This is one of the stronger romance fantasies, despite it's problems, and it's too bad it was never finished.

3. Konoha

I love this. It has romance, cuteness, some slight violence and a hint of nostalgia and mystery... I want a Kyaa (sorry, I love cats and that thing was too cute). The fact that the main character was played by Shiratori Yuri in her present life and Shinohara Emi in her past one certainly didn't hurt, either. If there's one thing wrong with this show, it's that it's too short. I want more!!!

PSME stands as one of the best and story-rich OVAs. It packs lovely characters and a good sci-fi story. The plot and character development is nice, too. Some psychic power and some bits of action add more to the lovely show. I have to say, however, that the translation from the manga had not went as smoothly as I hoped for. This should have earned 5 stars if only for the rushed-out ending. The other thing, watch this subtitled please... Better yet, you can get the whole series on a single commercial DVD, which should not cost you much. Go on, get it.

1. Tempy

Despite the cheesy title, PSME is a wonderful shoujo title. The plot is about 7 scientists from a distant planet who were sent out to the moon to observe the earth. Their reincarnated souls meet up again on earth and then the problems start as they slowly remember what happened in their past life. Their relationships have changed and they have to deal with that as well as the lingering problems from the past. If you like intriguing characters and lots of drama in your anime, you'll *love* PSME. There's a big problem with this OVA series though. It ends prematurely due to lack of funding. The creators tried to tie up some loose ends in the last episode, but it's still not satisfactory. Fans eager to find out more may try to find the 21-volume manga even though it has not been translated into English yet.
