1. Global Frequency

The Read or Die TV series picks up five years after the events of the original three-episode OVA. Popular author Sumiregawa Nenene, former student and friend of Yomiko Readman, aka The Paper, is attacked during a book signing in Hong Kong and rescued by Maggie, Michelle and Anita, three detective sisters who are subsequently hired as Nenene's live-in bodyguards upon their arrival in Japan. Anita doesn't share her sisters' love of books, but all three possess the familiar ability to control paper. While Nenene searches for the missing Yomiko, the sisters are contracted by a secret organization to recover certain rare books that have fallen into less-than-friendly hands.

It’s nearly impossible to explain any further without spoiling the series' myriad plot twists. I'll say this much: it has everything to do with the original series, and you''ll see a lot of familiar faces along the way. Read or Die TV is simply amazing. It is one of the best anime I have ever seen. The plot is well-conceived and unpredictable, the characters are extraordinary and the production values are fantastic. I haven't enjoyed an anime series this much in a very long time. Humor, action, drama – everything is deftly executed here. If you’re not watching this show, you should be.
