Takahashi Rumiko is definitely one of the better storytellers in manga and anime, as some can go as far as to say that she is a modern legend in the field.  Rumiko Theater is a 13 episode TV series based off of her short stories.  Each episode is a different story and all are creative, light-hearted, and fun to watch.  Stories range from totally realistic, while others have slight fairy-tale touches.  For example, one story tells how a recently divorced woman struggles to keep her financially down-trodden wedding chapel service in business.  Another story tells about an old woman who died, but suddenly regained consciousness along with being imbued with superhuman powers, such as telekinesis and flight.

Takahashi Rumiko is best known for her more popular works, Ranma ½, Maison Ikkoku, Urusei Yatsura, and Inuyasha, but she has also written countless short stories.  Although only 13 episodes consisting of unrelated events, Rumiko Theater still offers a wide array of original stories.  A great watch for any Takahashi Rumiko fan.
