This entry in the Saber Marionette franchise takes place
right after the events in Saber Marionette J, with Faust wandering off
towards New Texas and entrusting his beloved Saber Dolls in the care of Otaru,
with Tiger being broken in need of repairs. A mysterious new marionette shows
up that our gang names Marine. She's afraid of men, but doesn't seem that harmless.
But ahh, something's brewing back in New Texas.
Saber
Marionette J Again is amusing and not as annoying as Saber Marionette J,
mostly because there's no stupid main story to ruin things at first. Unfortunately
the final episodes had the world in dire need of being saved again. We've been
through this a million times all right and Saber Marionette J Again doesn't
improve on this. At least it didn't drag it as long as in the TV series. We also
got T1000-wannabe enemies and your bog standard crazy politician. Some minor fun
here and there, but much less than the first 3 episodes.
Another
thing that's rather disappointing is the art and animation quality which is more
reminiscent of a TV series than an OVA. Still, this show is worth watching for
the character hijinks, though be warned that it is yet another harem anime.
