Sakura Diaries tells the story of Touma who wants to
go to a prestigious university to be with his dream girl. He fails, but lies about
it. He goes to live with his cute cousin Urara while studying at a cram school.
It seems though that Urara has feelings for Touma. Sakura Diaries is really
much tamer than I expected it to be. While it does have its share of fan service,
the show is more about relationships than erotic fun. In that regard Sakura
Diaries severely disappoints. Touma is extremely tense and obsessed, tells
lies, and performs mindfucks on himself with regularity. Urara, while cute, is
pretty one-dimensional and obsessed with Touma. I can't help to think that all
the problems that occur in the series might have been avoided if people just talked
and listened to each other. In the end you might wonder what actually happened
in those 12 episodes, as the resolution is rather unsatisfying. |
