I had great expectations from this anime when I heard people
saying it was a "fighting anime" but I guess I was expecting too much.
The opening is really nicely done but can mislead you to what you'd be expecting,
it's nowhere near as serious as Berserk and the plot isn't the deepest
around either. Join Elle and Gau as they venture around on Gau's training of becoming
a Seville and a few other supporting characters added for a adventure party. The
fighting of this so called "fighting-anime" isn't bad most of the time
but whenever they get to the end of the fight and shout out those 1-liners with
still frame animation it sounds unbelievably corny. The plot is ok but the important
fights are always poorly executed as Gau gets pummeled to oblivion at the start
and somehow always make a miracle comeback later (not forgetting those cheesy
1liners either). Animation quality is good but nothing spectacular, gets tiring
sometimes to see those move-of-the-episode animation getting recycled over and
over again. If like adventure/fighting anime that's not so serious and can stand
corny 1 liners then this series might be worth checking out but otherwise proceed
with caution.
