2. One Classy Bloke

While I had never heard of the computer game, my friend brought this Anime a few days ago after being impressed with the trailer. Being the kinda guy I am, I watched it with him.

To be honest, this could of been a whole lot more. The animation seemed to vary in style (that final big... thing at the end was very poorly animated) . The story was forced in making it seems rushed. However, the story was quite interesting, dispite not really that orignal. If the movie was 90 minutes long, it probably would of worked better. It ended a bit suddenly too. The music was completely forgetable, which i suppose is a good thing, as it was not that good anyway. The characters did not interest me at all, except Blade and that little girl, Eyse. They had some feeling in them, but we needed more background infomation on Eyse. Blade had a very well fleshed out personality.

My main complaint is the amount of violence in the movie. Although i'm not that great a fan of blood and gore, i don't mind it as long as it's moderate amounts and it has some point. Sin, sadly, was over that limit, far over, and rarely had a point for it all too. This really lost it a lot of points with me. It's a shame about this movie, if the violence was lowered and the movie was made longer, it may have a better score than two stars.

Being a fan of the computer game this anime is based on, I expected to enjoy this. Sadly I was mistaken. While the story is passable, the animation is rock bottom. From cheap Photoshop lens flares, to bad digital panning, Sin has it all. When you're not being blasted by the fluctuating animation styles and bad digital effects, there is always the horrible pacing to keep you company. Flat and completely unexciting action sequences punctuated by random disembowelments is the norm. So where does the half star come from? Props for the only enjoyable sequence in the show, about 2 seconds of shower fanservice staring JC Denton. Avoid if at all possible.
