2. Yogi

This is . . . different from normal Kurumi. I swear to God that there is more character development and growth in one episode of Kurumi Zero than in ALL of Steel Angel Kurumi the Second. It’s as if the characters have all grown up. There are themes of depression, and suicide, as well as a general dismal atmosphere. I don’t mind it at all, in fact I find it much better than the other Kurumi. However, it is NOT what you would expect from watching the TV series. Grave of the Fireflies has more similarities.

1. Jeneki

Taking place far in the future, this series is actually a prequel to the first season. The entire series takes place in one apartment, and is entirely dialog-driven. It could have just as easily been a radio drama than an OAV series. The character designs are very plain with minimal color. Their attitudes are very different from the TV series as well; they are very down-to-earth, and not the same hyperactive characters I've come to know. I really don't mind character dramas, but this is a shockingly depressing series.
