If I had to sum up Strange Love in a few
words I would say this: This is a hentai title without much sex, and a lesbian-themed
title without a single lesbian scene (A fine example of a DVD cover deceiving
its audience). This is a sex comedy that focuses a lot more on people wanting
to have sex, than on people actually getting it.
The
DVD contains two episodes. The first episode does a good job at getting you to
despise Chizuru, the main character. Shes cunning, manipulative and spoiled.
Shes very sexy and knows how to use her charms to get what she wants. Deception,
lies, teasing and the Jan-Ken-Pon match of the century will bring you into the
Strange Love universe in a light-hearted, comedic way.
Episode
two explores Chizurus relationship with Kiroyuki, her steady
rockstar boyfriend. It also introduces Azumi, Chizurus cute new schoolmate.
Chizurus already shaky relationship with Kiroyuki is being threatened by
her obsession with the pretty but very heterosexual Azumi. And so the wheel turns
for Chizuru, in a way that finally makes her likeable.
If
you like light-hearted sex comedies with little actual intercourse youll
enjoy Strange Love. The characters are well developed and likeable. Visually
this title is above average for a hentai movie. Chizuru is not that attractive,
mainly due to the fact that her breasts are exaggerated to a point of unattractiveness.
The voice acting is ok in Japanese. I watched only a little of the English dub,
enough to know you should avoid it. If youre looking for something hentai,
look elsewhere. Even by soft-porn standards this one barely qualifies.
I
give it a 3 1/2 stars out of 5. A somewhat funny sex comedy, but a thoroughly
unsatisfying hentai experience. It lost a few extra points because of its deceiving
cover.
