I was not planning to watch this ever, but one of my 'kind'
friends gave me the opportunity to watch it by lending me his tapes. I don't know
if that was kind of him or a way for tutoring me. Anyway, when I first started
watching this show, I thought it was really interesting. True, it may not be loyal
to the game, showing Ken and Ryu as two hopeless kids and then being beaten by
Guile... but it was fun. It seems that I have been seeing too much into it. After
2 or 3 episodes, the show began to lose its pacing and didn't have a main idea
to concentrate on. It became even more unfaithful to the game, as Ryu, Ken and
even Chun Li are no more than hopeless brats searching for a fight then suddenly
gets serious. Graphically, there is nothing that makes this one appealing or even
attracting. The characters are sketched a little lousily and the colors are not
well employed. It gives me the feeling if there is ever an American style to an
anime, then this would be the pioneer of it. Some fight scenes are worth it but
they are few and far in-between, and the final battle is somehow worth it. This
is not to say there are no stupid things in it, like taking a complete episode
to summon a hadouken.
