I don't know why, but the anime based on popular fighting games
are not up to the par, which should be the exact opposite of RPGs. With the exception
of few titles, most fighting games anime are just mindless action with no concern
to the story or the characters' presentation and development whatsoever. Tekken,
being one of the best fighting games of all time was turned into one of the ugliest
anime. The action senses are not good, the story is as useless as if it were never
there and the animation and art style are just horrible to a degree that I could
not recognize Jun until the end of the movie - part of that was my problem because
I was not paying much attention to the dialogue, but that won't give an excuse
for not-true-to-roots characters. Better left unwatched as it will not add anything
new and it may change your opinion in the game. |

Primarily painful to watch, Tekken's only redeeming
feature is the fleshing out of the Tekken "story" that is so
poorly presented in the videogames. As a fan of the game I enjoyed watching the
characters, but even with that draw for me I don't think I'll ever revise this
one. The animation is fairly bad, with heavy use of early computer effects, and
cel shading. If you're a rabid fan of the game you may want to rent this one,
but most people are going to want to stay far away from this train wreck. |
