The basic plot of Tenamonya Voyagers is not actually very bad: some girls are trying to find their way to Earth, but since one of them is Space Trash Paraila, the Mafia and the cops are after them. Insanity ensues. The girls are cute, but the story is jumbled together and doesn't go anywhere at all. This is one of the only shows I've ever seen that I truly hope I never have to watch again. Even the fanservice in the last episode, of which there is quite a lot of, couldn't save this show.

This show made no sense. It described its setup well, but then started deviating from it without explaining what was going on. It changes from a "how do we get home?" show into an excuse for bad fanservice. Plus no ending was ever made for this show, so don't expect the last five minutes to wrap it up for you. They end up no closer to Earth than they started.

Every once in a while a title comes along without the hype that just blows me away. Tenamonya Voyagers gained that honor. The story while not great, is more then enough to explain the strangeness that ensues. Stylistically it's all over the place, with a strange visual flair that seems like some director's experiment. Thankfully the experiment turns out well, and gives Tenamonya Voyagers a unique visual flavor, to go with its top notch OVA animation. Fan service runs rampant, and the final episode... Well, lets just say you will gain a new found appreciation for bow-ties and goldfish. A little known title, that I highly recommend.
