This show shares similarities with Sakura Wars - same
guy, also based on a video game, girls with special powers, and an alternate timeline,
though the 50s this time around instead of the 20s. That said, I was surprised
at how cute and interesting the show was. Shiokaze is yet another underdog with
special powers stronger than anyone, yet it takes a death and the help of her
childhood friend/fiancee to draw it out. I'd be interested in learning more about
the backgrounds of some of these characters, as I thought they were pretty cool.
Points to having a good realistic relationship between Shiokaze and Mao - instead
of her decking him all the time like so many other anime couples. Last scene withstanding.
I will note, that it wasn't until second viewing that I liked the finer points
of the show.
