"Sayaka's
Love Story" is a none-H stand-alone movie in the continuing Pia Carrot
saga. After watching the abysmal Pia Carrot 2 DX, I took a deep breathe
and dared myself to watch this movie. Surprisingly, this move did not fail as
much as PC2dx. This movie focuses on the "third generation" of
the Pia Carrot love affairs (in the movie we get to see Koji and Asuza
as a happy couple). This time it is between Sayaka (looks just like Asuza in another
hairdo) and Akihiko. Unlike the previous PC titles, this one concentrates
more on the girls' perspective, and Akihiko appears only in the beginning and
end of the movie.
The story started when Sayaka
agreed to transfer to a newly built Pia Carrot near the beach and went on leave
from the Pia Carrot 2 store. However when Sayaka said goodbye to her crush Akihiko,
she did not get the response that she had hoped for. When Sayaka transferred,
the thoughts of Akihiko led her into periodic depression. However, the movie also
offers the fun-in-the-sun moments near the Pia Carrot beach house. Although the
character development in this movie did not improve much from the other PC
titles, I felt like I could sympathize with the characters a little bit more.
The ending was predictable but yet it did still manage to bring a warm smile on
my face. The music and art of this movie was a bit improved but still not up to
par with the real competitors in this overcrowded genre.
High:
Better than the previous PC titles. Romantic ending. The usual pretty girls.
Low:
Music still sucked, character development flawed.
Final Words: I guess
this title is not as corny as the other PC titles. Worth a look.
