This two episode OAV is a rather strange mix between a romance
and horror anime. One side of the story there's a love triangle between Masaki,
Naori and Manami, the latter who has returned to Japan after six years away in
Yemen. The other side of the story focuses on the supernatural powers of two special
stones coming from Yemen and the spirits possessed within them.
While
that sounds an interesting mix of ideas With You has quite a bit of trouble
combining the two. Ultimately two episodes just isn't enough time to properly
devote attention to both these parts of the plot and the result is that neither
comes across as being convincingly done. Really the series should probably have
had another episode or two to explain and develop things because the story, while
quite a decent one, feels extremely rushed and as if not everything's been fully
explained by the time the end comes around. Not really a bad anime but given a
bit more time it could have turned out a lot more interesting than it otherwise
has done.
