2. Tempy

This special episode puts Miyuki and Natsumi at work for the LAPD and focuses on a case where cars get stolen, modified, and resold. Things gets personal when Miyuki's own car gets nabbed. This installment in the You're Under Arrest! franchise is pretty average all around. Nothing new is added to the characters and the action is pretty much ho-hum, especially compared to creator Kosuke Fujishima's own eX-Driver, and Kenichi Sonoda's Gunsmith Cats. Granted those were OVAs but still. What we do get is pretty girls in bikini and some fun moments.

1. Cross Scars

This new OAV from the You’re Under Arrest world is a one off special episode which sees Natsumi and Miyuki working in Los Angeles. While they’re there they end up working on a case involving a group of car dealers who are not only purchasing stolen cars but also illegally modifying them and then selling them on. The case becomes all the more important once Miyuki’s very own new 70’s Mustang is stolen!

Unfortunately I’ve seen and read less of Kosuke Fujishima’s work than I would have liked but even for a person like me that’s not a problem when watching this special episode. The plot is something completely new and it makes no references to past events so anyone can watch it. Aside from Natsumi and Miyuki all the other characters are new as well and provided you know the barest details about the two lead characters there’s nothing else necessary.

As ever it’s difficult to create an anime that’s really worthwhile in such a short amount of time. This OAV is fun to watch but really it seems like it could fit in as a filler episode amongst any of the main You’re Under Arrest TV series. The animation here is also a slight disappointment. While it’s certainly not bad, given that it was released this year and is of such short length you might have expected the studio to have put some more effort into the animation. Unfortunately that’s not the case and the animation all looks pretty average by today’s standards. In the same way that the Slayers specials will most entertain fans of the main franchise so the same is true here. A nice one off episode but what I’ve seen of the main TV series is far better.
