 | Now
and Then, Here and There (Ima Soko ni Iru Boku) Shu leads
an ordinary life until the he meets LaLa-Rue, a girl with mystical coloured eyes.
His world changes forever when he is taken 5 billion years into the future - into
a totally different world to what he is used to - the world is a battlefield.
5 billion years from now, most of earth's water mass has dried up. The land is
barren and bereft from life. The Human race is becoming extinct and a somewhat
similar but different race is dominating the world. The only few surviving cities
are all fighting for water, which has become very scarce. LaLa-Rue seems to harbour
many secrets which may lead to more water supplies, which is why she has been
targeted by powerful forces. |
 | Hunter
X Hunter Gon is a young boy who wants to be a Hunter. There are
various types of Hunters in his world, and being a Hunter gives one certain priviliges.
Before you can become a Hunter you have to pass a test. Gon seems well on his
way to passing this test as he's a very bright lad who is able to communicate
with animals. Apparently his father, long believed to be dead, is still alive
and was once one of the greatest Hunters in existance. Gon believes he will be
able to meet his father once he becomes a Hunter himself. |
 | Tenshi
ni Narumon This show is bright, colorful and contains lots of cute
characters. Yuusuke is an ordinary schoolboy living by himself, who one day bumps
into Noelle. She and her whole offbeat family end up living at Yuusuke's house.
She wants to be together with Yuusuke and also wants to become an angel, although
she isn't quite sure what an angel is. Although TNN might look like harmless fluff,
there is an actual plot, some plot twists, serious dramatic (but not overly so)
moments, and rather disturbed antagonists. |
 | Mamotte
Shugogetten Tasuke's parents are always travelling around the world,
so he basically lives alone. His life seems pretty boring and careless until an
artifact from China sent by his father makes a goddess appear. Shaolin Shugogetten
is dedicated to protecting her master by summoning little spirits each with a
unique power. If that isn't enough, a second goddess appears: Ruaan Keikounitten,
who can bring objects alive. Her goal is to make Tasuke happy. Both goddesses
aren't very bright and cause a lot of damage instead. Parallels can be drawn between
this show and Ah! My Goddess, but they're different enough, and stand on their
own. I've seen a couple of episodes and it seems like harmless enjoyable fluff
so far. Rishu, the tiny shpirit with the shpeech impediment ish eshpeshially cute. |
 | FLCL Crazy
is one word to describe FLCL by Gainax (with help from Production I.G.).
Weird is another. FLCL is a visually stunning piece of work with excellent music
by The Pillows and Shinkichi Mitsumune. I'm not sure if there's actually a deeper
story behind all this, but I'm certainly enjoying the ride so far. The 6th and
final OVA episode is due march 16, while a movie is also planned for later this
year. Here's hoping that FLCL will be licensed for north american distribution
soon. |
