 | Narutaru
The Narutaru manga is better known in the West as Shadow Star
after being translated in English by Dark Horse comics, and is finally animated
as a TV series; prompting the question how much of the explicitly violent and
psychologically damaging sequences from the manga will remain intact. The anime
starts out innocently enough with the lively young girl named Shiina visiting
her grandparents and encountering a strange starfish-like creature she names Hoshimaru
("round star"). Thinking she just got a strange new pet, she soon realizes
that there are more of them and that their owners aren't always as friendly as
herself. |
